Yet again January has been a quite month for Fred and I, sadly immediately after I returned to school I had two and a half weeks of GCSE mock examinations meaning we had limited time to compete this month, however we still tried to get out and about together (however I got some pleasing results from my mocks which makes up for the lack of competing).
We started the year by boxing Fred up to Maidensgrove Common where he enjoyed a morning of schooling and hacking round the common, he did some superb dressage and we had some fantastic long gallops which Fred adored and I am happy with how fit he still is at this time of the year!
We went to BCA for a riding club indoor eventing training day which was really good fun and Fred was super jumping Christmas trees, roll tops, water treys and all of the spooky fillers! I had so much fun and I am really pleased with the improvement of the quality of Freds canter which has been one of our focuses this winter.
The training day was really good preparation for our arena eventing at Wellington. We took Fred out to Wellington for their Arena eventing which was a full up BE 90 course which he flew and he particularly loved the cross country element which is always his favourite part! He had a great time and was very pleased to be back out and about again wearing his Likit Numnah and was rewarded with a Likit Treat Bar!
In-between battling with the rain, wind and mud, I have been planning our February half term and I am really excited for year ahead with Fred, although I will have to focus on my GCSEs over Easter it does mean that my summer starts in mid-June which gives us a really long summer of eventing and fun!
Fred, Roly and Harry have all been enjoying their Likit Products and they really help as a distraction for Fred when I try to brush around his face which he isn’t too keen on. Roly is continuing to demolish every Likit we give him within the hour and he is enjoying the hunting season which is always the highlight of his winter – the Likit Snaks
are the perfect size to fit in my jacket and they keep Roly going all day!
Lucy, Roly and Fred!
