Romy's May Blog

It’s been a quiet month for Sprout and I, with GCSE’s taking priority. The month started with Sprouts 9th birthday on the 6th, where he had a cake made entirely from chaff, stud muffins and likit snacks which he promptly devoured! Sprout is still thought of as a 4 year old mentally, so him actually being 9 on paper is scary!

I took a trip to Badminton Horse Trials on Saturday the 7th for the cross country, where my bag was laden down with Likit Leaflets and camera lenses! I divided my time between watching and photographing famous riders, handing out Likit leaflets and meeting up with friends, and overall it was an incredible day! Ben Hobday and Mulry definitely got the biggest cheer the whole way round the course!

On the 14th Sprout and I headed over to Carol Bennitt for a dressage lesson, where Sprout went brilliantly bar some minor spooks! Carol’s advice set us up nicely for the South Oxfordshire Hunt Central Show on the following day, where Sprout and I were entered in the Pony Club intermediate. Sprout did a lovely test to come 2nd with some very tough competition! We scored 66.73%, which was identical to the winners, but unfortunately we were beaten on collectives by half a point!!

On May 22nd Mum woke me up very early to say we were going cross country at Lyneham Heath, which was a pleasant surprise! Lyneham is my favourite venue, because not only is the ground immaculately maintained, and the jumps in perfect condition, but the drive through Chipping Norton is stunning! Mum and I have a dream of moving there one day, which sadly is only a dream, however much i’d like it to be a reality! Sprout was brilliant, jumping all the fences, including some BE intermediate fences with ease! The video can be viewed here:

Now I only have a few exams left, I’m getting very excited for summer, which will be packed full of ponies hopefully! I have the OBH Hughenden PC Advanced Camp to look forwards to which I enjoy every year, PC areas, and hopefully Sprout and I are going to the beach for some rides which will be amazing! Next month’s competitions start early, with Grafton Hunt 100 ODE on the 4th, and The Horse Trust Open Day on the 5th where i am representing my pony club! I hope everybody exams are going well, and the weather is nice for competitions! Romy and Sprout :)
