Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s ponies were spoilt over Christmas. Although December seems ages ago. It has still been a busy month and she seems to be going through more Likits than ever- she keeps finding the Likit Snaks that I leave outside her stable.I am also pleased to announce our new sponsor A & J Boots. Their fleece travel boots and accessories match perfectly with Izzy’s lovely green Likit rug!
New Year’s day started off with a whole yard hack where 9 of us from the yard hacked to Epsom Downs for a good gallop. Next weekend, we went to my local pony club for dressage. Izzy rode a respectable test in the PC Novice 2009 test where we were placed 8th. I was really pleased as she remained in a constant outline throughout- something which have been working on for a while. There was a covering of snow in the middle of January, where we thought that we may not make it to the show. However, the snow cleared up and we set off to the South East of England Show Ground (Ardingly) where in 85-90cm Teams, my team came 6th. Then we competed at Bury Farm EC in NSEA SJ where Izzy and I jumped our biggest course yet. It was meant to be 90cm yet the course was more like 95cm-1m with large spreads. We got round with some faults but I was so pleased with how she took it on. Nearing the end of the month, we entered an online dressage organised by the NSEA which is where you ride a dressage test at home, post it on YouTube and is then judged by judges and results are posted online. It is a great as you don’t even have to leave the yard or plait! I think it is perfect for those who do not have transport as it gives everyone a chance to compete. The month finished with a great lesson at North Lodge where we practised more technical lines for jump off turns and while out cross country. Izzy was flying round so I think that her Likit numnah gave her wings! All in all a very positive start to the month and I hope everyone else is as excited as us for what 2016 holds...Megan & Izzy x
