I've been busy this January. We had some very special visitors, Minimus training started and I've been doing lots of pole work with little Silver. Our friend Steph came home from Australia this month for her wedding. It had been soooo long since we had last seen her, over two years!! She had asked me to be her junior bridesmaid at her wedding so I was super excited!!The wedding was SO much fun even though she wouldn't agree to walk down the aisle on big Silver!! But Steve (her new husband) is allergic to horses so probably for the best!!! She has too beautiful little girls Ella and Layla. I was so excited to bring them up to the yard to have a play on Little Silver. At first they were a little nervous but not for long. Ella was a bit safety conscious and kept her hat and back guard on the whole time! Layla on the other hand had no fear and kept lying on the track when I was riding little Silver so I had to keep my eyes open so I didn't run her over!!! Both girls really enjoyed trotting and going over a small jump, they giggled the whole time!! Ella also loved Passion. She was leading her around and over the jump! She loved when the ponies nuzzled her as she said they were giving her kisses. I even taught Ella to go ask her Daddy to buy her a pony!! Unfortunately they were only here for 3 weeks and now had to go home. I hate saying goodbye at the airport and I did have some tears but the silver lining is that me and my Mum are planning to go visit them next year and we can always talk on Skype everyday! Also this month I had minimus training in Carlanstown on Big Silver. He was such a good boy and jumped everything really really well. We had to practice opening and closing a slip rail and a gate. Big Silver was a great help with the gate and nudged it to help me open and close it easier. When we got home he got a new Likit for being such a good boy!! I can't wait for the next training and thank you to Aideen Robinson for organising it!! Little Silver has been really full of beans this month, I think he is excited for show season to start!! We have been doing lots of pole work and practicing flying changes this month too. He is doing really well and is going much better since starting the exercises. I can't wait for showing season to start cause I think she is going really well! February is looking like it will continue to be busy with a Louth hunt pony club show jumping league starting, more minimus training ( including running and swimming) and with the days getting brighter it means more light in the evenings for cross country and hacking!! :) Lots of horses Laura and Little Silver Don't forget to check me out on facebook :)
