The start of December was quiet enough for Ben and I. We didn’t really get up to much just riding at home and lunging. It’s hard for me to ride Ben in winter as the ground in the fields gets all churned up which is impossible to ride on. On the 11th of December, we made our way down to Killossery Lodge Stud in Dublin for some Interschool’s show jumping. Ben was very good and we managed to come 6th just inside the placings. I wasn’t really pushing him for speed so I was really happy with him. He celebrated it with a Cherry Treat Bar. I finished school on the 16th of December which meant I had 3 weeks off to try and get Ben’s fitness back up. On the 18th of December, we went to Kernan Equestrian Centre for their Christmas show. I did the 80cm speed and the 85cm pairs. We were really fast in the 80cm taking the win! And in the 85cm pairs we came 2nd with Katie and Mollie. The show was sponsored by horse first so we won lots of goodies off them. On Christmas day, Ben got a lovely dinner full of Likit Treats and a nice big fresh bed! The next day I decided to hack Ben home to my house. This was the longest hack I had ever taken Ben on and it was 11.2km long there and back! He was very good on the way there just a bit nappy and trying to turn back. When we were at my house we let him take on the role of the lawnmower in my back garden. On the way back though he practically ran home! I said woah and he said go! We made it back safe and sound. He was very sweaty when we got back and enjoyed his Stud Muffins. On the 29th of December I took him to Piperstown to use their arena so I could jump him. He was very good and well behaved. We managed to make a new jumping record for us which is now 1.10m! We are both confidently jumping 90-1m now and I’m very excited to get out competing in 2017! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. I hope 2017 is good to everyone and I can’t wait to tell you what I got up to next month! Here is a video I made to summarise my 2016... Klara & Ben x
