Wow! Where has the time gone? November has gone so quickly and Christmas is just around the corner. We have had an exciting month with a trip to Your Horse Live, a glimpse of snow and a win in an 80cm show jumping class! For an overview as to what we have been up to click this link!
The month started off with show jumping at Merrist Wood where we did the 80 and 90cm. Izzy did a lovely double clear in the 80cm to leave us 7th and with just a pole in the 90cm we were out of the placings. Izzy was not fazed by the spooky fillers or advertising boards around the arena which tended to catch some out so really pleased.
A week after this, I trekked up to Your Horse Live to see what it was all about. I had never been before and I will definitely be going again. Great demonstrations from top riders including Charlotte Durjardin, Paul Tapner and Ben Hobday and not forgetting the massive amount of shopping which was a great place for Christmas shopping! Lots of stands were selling Likit and Stud Muffins and they looked popular. I had a chance to meet Charlotte Durjardin, Paul Tapner and Ben Hobday to get their autographs. All really nice people and also very inspirational to talk to. I even gave Charlotte a Likit Treat Bar for her horses to try!
Throughout the month, we have kept up with our weekly lessons with Viv Pearson who has worked with Izzy and I to help us improve and continue to progress. This month, we have done a lot of grid work to improve balance and rhythm as well as getting Izzy to stretch and pick up her feet over jumps. Luckily for us, our school is flood lit so I am still able to ride in the pitch black when it is only 4:30 after school if the light suddenly disappears making it hard to hack out in the dark.
Izzy was also fully clipped later in the month which has left her looking like a sleek equine rather than a fluffy donkey. Unfortunately for Izzy, she was clipped when we saw our first glimpse of snow during a rather cold weekend so it will be exercise sheets on until next summer as winter is predicted to be cold!
However, our highlight of the month has to be our win at the 80cm show jumping at Felbridge Show Ground. Izzy was on fire! She was really speedy and we did a quick double clear to leave us leading for over half the class. We even won £10 so that will go towards Izzy’s Christmas present- Likit perhaps?! I couldn’t have been more proud of her.
Likits are proving to be a firm favourite as a mini Likit appears to be compulsory after a ride and Likit Snaks as a reward- Izzy is constantly looking for more! Team mascot Lola the dog also took a liking to my Likit gilet!
December is filled with Christmassy things including Christmas show jumping with a festive dress up! But to get into the festive spirit I made Izzy an advent calendar with Likit Snaks and Cherry Likit Bars- I can’t wait to test it out on the 1st.
Until next time, wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s lucky horses and ponies receive lots of Likit and Stud Muffins in their stocking this Christmas...
