March was rather quiet for us as I had several mocks and AS exams are fast approaching.
On the 2nd March I received a phone call from Horse & Hound magazine asking to interview me regarding our win in the Blue Chip Novice qualifier a few days before! How exciting! Also, they remembered me from when they spoke to us about some of Yeti's achievements which was lovely! The article can be found in H&H 12th March, but here is a photo of it:
On the 8th of March we headed down to Mendip Plains EC in Radstock where it was extremely busy considering it was their first BS show. The wind and rain made it fairly miserable as it was outside. We jumped the 1.05m and we had a very unfortunate pole in the jump off as I made up too much ground down a 4-strides distance and I didn't shorten Major up enough in time so took the front rail of an oxer. However I'm sure he would have gone down on 3 if I'd asked!
During March I received a lovely delivery from Equidivine - Likit stencils to create glitter tattoos on Major's quarters! I couldn't wait to try them - I think the glitter tattoos are a fantastic way to advertise as they stand out so well!
In April, we firstly headed to the Blue Chip Winter Championships at Hartpury College, Gloucester. It was a great experience for Major to see a big, spooky arena - he coped really well and acted as though it was nothing new to him. We had 2 poles, however I was still pleased as other than that he jumped fantastic.
Here he is in the Blue Chip Winter Novice Final.
The following weekend we went to the April Meeting at Wales & West where we just jumped 1 class - the Up & Coming Young Riders. I also attempted to use the Equidivine glitter tattoos for the first time since receiving them a few weeks earlier - here is what it came out like!
And here is a photo of Major in the Young Riders.
On the 19th April we went back to Wales & West for the Welsh Masters. He jumped his socks off in both the Discovery and Under 18's, where we were double clear and fifth in both classes. I also used the Likit stencils again which got lots of recognition! Several people came and told me that they loved how they looked and I also heard other people make comments such as “wow mum - look at that!” The tattoos looked even more impressive when the sun came out and made them sparkle!
Here are 2 photos from the Masters..
On May 3rd we will be going to Wales & West (yet again!) for Chepstow 2* International. We are jumping the Discovery and 1.05 - hopefully one day we will be going for the international classes (in my dreams)!!
Then my exams start on May 12th so next month will be fairly quiet in terms of competing. However, I cannot wait for June as exams will be over and we will have so much more time - we have lots planned for the summer!
I hope everyone is enjoying the lighter evenings and we've even been lucky enough to have some T-shirt weather!
