So much has changed over this month of Dec the biggest being that I am now home!!! My flight landed back on English soil at 6:00 am 15th of December and the very next day I was driving myself up to Gloucester so so excited to see my pony again! It was an emotional ruin for me certainly as I couldn’t begin to put into words how much I’ve missed her cheeky face although all she actually cared about was if I had food for her!!
We very quickly fell back into our old routine it has been very important this month to properly get back into showjumping as I just feel that with everything that has happened this year we’ve both had far too much time off. I set the ambitious goal of jumping a newcomers BSJA before I went back to uni at the end of the xmas holidays. as per every winter I had the usual battle with Immi to clip her, but a lot of sedan and bribery with Likit Treat Bars
later I had a beautifully fully clipped horse, time to crack on.
Just a short week after I landed from America me and Immi were off to our first show back it was an unaffiliated show held in support of Rainbow Bridge Equine Sanctuary
which is a local charity who does amazing work for horses and ponies in need. well its safe to say me and Immi CLEANED UP! We won every single class we entered, the 80cm speed class, 90 open and 1m open. I couldn’t believe that after all the time off we’d both had, shed come back to her first show in 5 months and won everything!
December has just been onwards and upwards from there we’ve been training with Ashley Boyce
who is based at our new yard, and after christmas we were lucky enough to get a lesson with Corrine Bracken
who was greatly supportive and had some great tips and hints for us.
We began the new year with our first BSJA back, on the 5th of January at Merits Wood and we achieved my goal for the christmas holidays Immi jumped a beautiful double clear in WOW saddle
1m10 Blue chip qualifier it was a huge class around 75 entrants, and Immi came 9th over all I was nearly in tears as I exited the ring somehow all the heartache and hard work just was so worth it at that moment in time all I can say is BRING ON 2015!!!
Wishing everyone reading this a fantastic new year and competition season with their horses!
Love Freya and Immi x
