Gracie's December Blog

Happy New Year! I hope 2018 brings you lots of fun, happiness and success!

December was quite a quiet month for the boys and I competition wise, but we took this time away from the ring to do lots of training and have some fun!

The month started with a trip to the beach with Dan and my best friend. The beach is one of my absolute favourite places to go and it was awesome to let off some steam galloping along the shore! Danny was certainly happy to be out as well!
On December 4th, we took the boys to our local indoor arena for some SJ practice, Carrot was super and definitely seemed to gain some of his confidence back! My brother came along to ride Danny as well before I got on and popped him around a course. Dan was such a saint for Leo and was rewarded with some extra Likit Snaks in his feed that night! Here’s a picture of my brother riding Dan, aren’t they just adorable!
The next week it snowed! Carrot was particularly perplexed about what the strange white stuff on the ground was! We took this opportunity to tick riding in the snow off my bucket list by having a bareback canter on Dan, who, in typical Dan style, had to make it extra special by bucking me off as well...

Our next outing was to an outdoor arena for some more SJ practice with Carrot. He really tried hard and we finished on a nice, confident round which I was really pleased with.

On the 17th of December my mum and I went to Olympia! I met with my friends Soph and Lily there and it was lovely to meet a lot of my followers from my Instagram account @pony_nuts. The Longines FEI showjumping was extremely exciting - I will never know how the top riders jump so high and turn so tight! Overall it was an awesome day and I hope I can go back next year!

Our last outing of the year was to our annual PC Xmas show on the 22nd of December. Carrot was such a superstar and did a lovely clear in the 2,6ft to come 7th, and then Dan the dude only went and won both the 2,9ft and 3ft with two awesome fast clear rounds! He was dressed as a reindeer and I was dressed as Santa Claus - it was a rather amusing sight!!!
And then it was Christmas! I filled the boys stockings up with Likit Treat Bars which they thoroughly enjoyed opening (and eating!) in the morning. I had a lovely Christmas Day with my family and stuffed myself on mince pies and Christmas dinner!!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas!

Looking back on 2017, it’s made me realise what a roller coaster of a year it’s been, losing my lovely pony Horace at the start of the year completely changed how the year was meant to go and broke my heart, but it also opened up so many new opportunities with Danny, and Carrot as well. Dan has gained me this year 3 national titles, 6 top 10 national placings, and a million new memories, it has truly been a year like no other, and I’m never going to have a year like it again! I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings with Carrot. You can watch my 2017 end of year video here:

Until next month, Gracie, Dan and Carrot xxx
