Megan's May Blog

Both Izzy and I have had a very busy month and towards the end of the month, Izzy has been on a winning streak- it must be all the new Likits we received!! Thank you very much for the restock, Izzy is absolutely loving it. She is still demolishing her Litte Likits in her tongue twister and is always looking for another one in the morning.

First up was our first One Day Event with my PC at Coombelands EQ. I was really nervous at first but have now been bitten by the eventing bug and can’t wait to do some more. Izzy did a really lovely dressage test which scored 30 and was the best score in my arena- I couldn’t believe it! We then flew round the show jumping and cross country clear only for me to discover that I had missed out a fence out x-county, resulting in elimination. I was so frustrated with myself as Izzy and I would have won otherwise. Either way, Izzy was more interested in the new Likit Electro Bar she received after the x-country!

Following this, was a lesson with my regular instructor where we were trying out the new show jumping field at the yard. Complete with newly painted jumps and spooky fillers, we practised over courses of 90-100cm and a 105cm upright at the end.

Next up was Combined Training at Munstead EC representing Bookham RC. We were doing the BRC 100Q Dressage Test which is Izzy really showed off in to score us 27.5 and clear round the 85cm show jumping. I was amazed to see that Izzy and I had won individually and our team had also won the class! This qualified us for the Horselyx Festival Of The Horse Championships next month! Izzy got at least half a bag of Likit snaks for being such a star!

Also with my riding club, was another one day event held at the lovely venue, Coombelands. I really like it there as their xc course is fab. Once again, Izzy did a beautiful dressage with another low score of 28.5. However, in the show jumping we ended on 4 faults as I rode like a sack of potatoes and dumped her in front of the jump! We then made up for it after she stormed round the xc inside the time. Little did I know, we still managed to win the class!! This qualified us for the Animalife Horse Trials Championships in August.

Finally, we shad another lesson with my instructor to practise for the Horslyx Championships where I was working on really getting Izzy working up and forward into the bridle. She was a little dressage diva in her Likit Numnah.
