Well it’s been a very busy and exciting month for Izzy and I as schools out for summer!! We have just come back from Mid Surrey Pony Club Camp where Izzy was amazing doing everything I asked of her, fuelled by Likit Treat Bars and Snaks.
July began with the PC Area Team show jumping at Felbridge EC where Izzy jumped two double clears for Mid Surrey Pony Club. The team overall did not get placed as other members had unlucky faults but Izzy and I still won a rosette for getting a double clear.
Izzy was a dressage diva during the RC Dressage to win Prelim 14 to qualify for the champs contributing to a team 2nd. Also in the riding clubs test we came 8th individually and another team 2nd. Well done to everyone at Team Bookham x
Following on from the show jumping areas, next up was the dressage where we competed in the novice section. Surprisingly Izzy and I came 3rd in our arena with 71.3%, just missing out on an individual qualification for the PC Championships and a team 5th.
Taking advantage of the lovely summer weather, Izzy and I had a photoshoot by a talented young photographer at my yard (Madeleine Black Photography) who took some beautiful photos- here are some on my favourites.
Once we had broken up for Summer, we tried out something new- dressage to music clinic with Amanda Birch! I really enjoyed riding to the music as it can really help improve rhythm while riding and I am hoping to start competing to music in the dressage to music classes.
As I am going to be taking my PC B Test this month, I took Izzy to an intensive B Test Bootcamp for 3 days, organised by Area 11 Pony Club. We rode for two hours in the morning each day before perfecting our horse care/ theory ready for this section of the test. Visits from a farrier, vet and equine nutritionist really helped with my understanding of these topics.
After camp, I went to watch the Longines International meet at Hickstead where I treated myself to a new fixed peak Charles Owen Hat; Izzy on the other hand got bought a rather attractive pink and purple fly fringe!!! We also picked up Negusberry (friend of Hannah’s Willbury the Wonder Pony who is the coolest chemo cuddly pony ever and is working hard #kickingcancersbutt) and showed her the sights of Hickstead before taking her back to her owner Kate Negus Saddlery.
Izzy and I are now back from pony club camp and are looking forward to heading off to Swalcliffe on Thursday ready for the British Riding Clubs Animalife National ODE Championships on the Friday.
Finally, Izzy and I were lucky enough to be featured in the promotional video for the #teamlikit competition and have really enjoyed our year being part of #teamlikit. Looking forward to watching the finalists videos - good luck!
Really hope that everyone is enjoying the summer holidays as much as we are and all those who are attending camp have a great time.
Megan & Izzy x
